Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder Technique)

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle approach to holistic health treatment & routine self-care by supporting fluid maintenance, reduced swelling & optimal immune function. In a MLD session, the practitioner uses nourishing & rhythmic techniques to encourage lymph flow in the direction of drainage, towards the heart (and more specifically the two main drains at the notch of the neck).

The rest of the body’s lymphatic system acts as highways, meeting at different “nodes” for maintenance along its journey back towards the main drains. This happens naturally through our daily movements, while therapeutic manual lymphatic drainage provides additional support & maintenance.

Using specific techniques, manual lymphatic drainage promotes more efficient fluid exchange & movement through the system by reducing swelling or accumulation & increasing the parasympathetic response in the nervous system.  The session also encourages increased self-somatic awareness from the focus on diaphragmatic breathing.
